The Northern Ireland Housing Executive presents: A Human Library The Human Library works like a normal library except that the books are people. 'Readers' can come and 'borrow' a person for 20 minutes from the library and take them to the Coffee Shop for a 20 minute conversation. It is an informal, safe way to bring people from diverse backgrounds and lifestyles together in conversation. The concept behind the Human Library is that it is difficult to maintain stereotypes and prejudices when meeting and engaging face-to-face. These 20 minute conversations let us see the human in the other and remind us that a stereotype never does justice to a person. Free of charge. Thursday 10th June 2010, 16.00 - 18.00 |
