South Belfast Roundtable on Racism presents:

B inclusive: an exhibition of artwork from Belfast's integrated schools

In April 2010, Belfast's integrated schools were invited to take part in an art activity to support an exhibition taking place at Belfast Waterfront during the month of June.

Students contributed their ideas about what it means to feel 'welcome' and 'included' in Belfast. This activity was done either individually or in small groups and schools were asked to use some democratic means by which to choose five images to submit.

South Belfast Roundtable were delighted with the quality and variety of images sent in and the exhibition showcasing this work was the central focus at the launch of the Belfast Inclusion Festival where it was very well received. Guests at the launch chose the image (shown) created by Rosella Corso (12) of Malone College to best represent 'welcome' and 'inclusion' in Belfast. This will be used on a poster to promote local events throughout the city.

The overall standard of work was high and the exhibition will now be on show on the ground floor of Belfast Waterfront (beside the Studio Theatre entrance) during June. Look out for many more of the images appearing on this website.

Many thanks and congratulations to all students and schools taking part in this fine showcase of what it means to feel 'welcome' in Belfast!

Belfast Women of the World

Belfast Women of the World are a group from many different backgrounds, nations and walks of life who have been meeting on a monthly basis since November 2009. Shared events and activities along the way have involved not only exploring differences but, more importantly, sharing the many things in common and enjoying one another's company! Meetings are driven and led by members' own interests and suggestions and, so far, have taken place on weekday evenings in the Ormeau Road area of Belfast.

"Belfast Women of the World meetings are a chance to relax and unwind and enjoy the collective wit and creativity of women of all ages from all over the world. For me, the group demonstrates that we always have more in common than we do to separate us and I come away from our meetings feeling energised and connected!" (Stephanie Mitchell, co-founder)

Meetings are free of charge and open to women 18 years and over. To find out more, please contact Stephanie at

It is an informal, safe way to bring people from diverse backgrounds and lifestyles together in conversation. The concept behind the Human Library is that it is difficult to maintain stereotypes and prejudices when meeting and engaging face-to-face. These 20 minute conversations let us see the human in the other and remind us that a stereotype never does justice to a person. Free of charge.
